Golf Course Tree Yields Golf Ball Burl

This golf ball found in a tree raises 4 impossibilities that continue to baffle, befuddle and bemuse me. Take a look and then see if you agree:

Here’s what continues to keep me up at night, tossing and turning at the improbability of this finding:

1) Golf was invented and achieved popularity
2) Golfer hits ball into tree… and it sticks
3) Greenskeeper cuts 40′ tree up with chainsaw and slices right through the ball
4) According to the news story there’s a woodworker out there who has enough money left over to be a golfer

The world never ceases to amaze me ;)

I found this story at WoodNet.

What a slice! Stray golf ball discovered buried inside felled tree

  1. Todd Bordner Says:

I find this story very possible. I have often found bulets and barbwire fencing in rought lumber. One mill in the aria had found several shotgun shells (Whole) in a hickory tree they were sawing in to board for my dad. and we were told by another man at the same mill that they had once found a broken jar of silver coins that had grown into the base of an old sycamore tree that they were cutting. So a golf ball isn’t that bad.

Now that is a unique find in a tree!
