ReviewI can still remember the first circular saw I bought and I can still remember about how far I threw it when it continually jammed. Today's circular saws are far advanced from my 1980 model and have features I could only have dreamed of back then. The Skil 5750-01 is one of those saws.

The 7-1/4-inch blade cuts to a depth of 2-1/2-inches with the base flat and up to 1-15/16 inches when set at a 45-degree angle. The 13 amp, 2.5-horsepower motor provides enough power to cut through the hardest woods and the laser light guide line insures a straight and true cut. When the safety trigger is pressed the laser light shows the path the blade will follow. There's really no need to ever chalk a line or mark the face of the material again. Other advanced features include a second ergonomically designed "Grip-Right" handle that provides added grip and safety. With both hands on the saw housing there's little chance of an accidental kickback if the blade should bind. There are also an anti-snag guard to reduce the chance of snagging when making narrow cuts, a built-in spindle wrench and a spindle lock to make blade changing fast and easy, a rearview depth gauge with large, bold lettering, and a trigger with a safety lock guard to prevent accidental starts. The soft-grip handles and overall design of the 5750-01 make for a powerful, well-balanced, easy-to-use circular saw.--C. Dwight Barnett
